One of the highest causes for pet deaths, other than overpopulation, is behavior problems. Every day hundreds of cats and kittens are abandoned in the streets or countryside or are surrendered to humane society and pounds because their owners can not cope with their behavior. Efforts to rescue and to find homes for these orphans are dwarfed by their growing numbers.
While hard working and dedicated organizations are working to help these animals find new homes, little is being done to address the ignorance and misinformation about cat behavior and training that perpetuates this abuse of animal life. Confused cat owners often feel that their only recourse is to get rid of their pets.
